Getting ready to spread my wings

Well, it's been a LONG time since I've written in a blog, let alone this blog. And it's been a long time since I've anticipated somewhat lengthy periods of repeated travel. So hooray, for this, and that too. Clipped wings are no fun.

So here's a small sampling of my itinerary to come, details may (and likely will) change.

Feb. 3: Baghdad-->Dubai
Feb. 5: Dubai-->Bangkok
Feb. 7: Bangkok--> Ko Samui/Ko Tao
~Feb. 13/14: Somehow getting to Chiang Mai and celebrating Chinese New Year there.
Feb. 19: Bangkok-->Dubai
Feb. 20: Dubai-->Baghdad.

As you can tell, there are some major gaps in time and planning. All that is meant to be. The only sure things I truly have planned (in addition to already purchased plane tickets) are daily massages and lots of delicious spicy Thai food. I also really hope to get PADI certified--finally. Those loyal readers of mine who followed my Egypt journeys will remember how I was unable to scuba in Dahab because of a wretched head cold. Here too, the chance of getting certified is somewhat out of my control, and dependent on weather, health and money/class availability...but I'll keep my fingers crossed!

A final note, I know that it's strange to not be blogging about my time in Baghdad. Sadly security concerns have prevented me from doing that, but this blog will refer vaguely every now and then to my time and experiences here. And in turn for bearing with me, I will try and be as straight with you all about the time I spend in Dubai and Thailand. For the faint of heart, no need to read on...everyone else, thanks for accompanying me on my journey. :-) The countdown begins...

Love,

IJW
